DuPont™ TyvekŪ is a non-woven material made of very fine 100% polyethylene fibres laid randomly to form a web. The resulting substrate is then converted for a multitude of uses in cases where a high level of protection takes priority:

  • Protective garments for industrial workers, teams working in emergency situations and environmental protection
  • Construction (roofing etc.)
  • Packaging and protection of medical materials
  • Envelopes and packaging to protect important items sent by mail
  • Disc packaging to protect important data or your favourite music
  • Printable substrates
  • Tags and labels,
  • Etc.

TyvekŪ envelopes are made of an environmentally friendly material and are fully recyclable in the same way as plastic. Even printed TyvekŪ envelopes are recyclable.

TyvekŪ envelopes are widely available throughout Europe. To purchase, check with your local office supply dealer, envelope manufacturer or office superstore. If you have difficulty finding a TyvekŪ envelope size or style that suits your needs, we're available to assist you.  Please contact our TyvekŪ-Helpline.

Most inks and some markers are suitable for writing on TyvekŪ, pencils not.

No. Laser printers operate at high temperatures that will melt TyvekŪ. Rather than addressing your envelopes directly, run address labels through your laser printer and then affix them to the TyvekŪ envelopes.

Nowadays, TyvekŪ envelopes are even better for inkjet printing and thanks to some recent modifications to the TyvekŪ surface, ink distortion may be fully eliminated. TyvekŪ envelopes can be addressed with most standard inkjet systems.

Solvent pigmented ink-based systems work ideally because of their quick-drying characteristics. However, many units use water-based inks that typically dry more slowly on TyvekŪ than on paper. In this case, some adjustments such as "draft-mode" printing, longer feed intervals or dryers will help enhance the printing quality on TyvekŪ.
